Goodbye, 2016!

As has been said everywhere by everyone, 2016 was an awful, surreal year. However, I think that because of that, 2016 will serve as a catalyst for change in 2017. I think a good way to sum up everything is with the above quote from Ovid: be patient and tough; someday this pain will be useful to you. If all this heartbreak helps me remember that my self is electric, then I think it ultimately is for the best.

I don't ever want to feel stagnant. Because of that I always think of ways to reinvent myself at the turn of the seasons and at the end of the year. The easiest way to do this is changing my hair; before it was light purple, and now it's a gradient of color. Changing habits is harder, but I feel confident that it's something I can do. With all that said, here are my goals for 2017!

  1. Cook vegan meals and eat out less
  2. Exercise 3 times a week
  3. Read one book per week following the below chart (from this reddit post)
  4. Write every day and publish a poem
  5. Practice mindfulness
  6. Listen to new music
  7. Visit more museums
  8. Create more!
Here is the guide I'm using for my books next year (click to enlarge!); let me know if you have any recommendations!
I hope 2017 treats all of us well, and I hope we can all find strength in solidarity in the hard times to come, and reasons to rejoice in even the most bleak moments!
